Green Energy Group acquires Shell Energy's Certificates and Engineering division

Specialist C&I consultancy relaunches as Outperformers Next, bringing 16 years of energy efficiency expertise into the Green Energy Group

The Green Energy Group has acquired the Certificates and Engineering division of Shell Energy’s Energy Solutions business, bringing the team and its 16-year track record into the Group under a new name: Outperformers Next. The division, which has spent years delivering Measurement & Verification and Project-Based Activities for some of Australia’s largest commercial and industrial clients, now enters a new chapter.

The business traces its origins to 2009, when it was founded as Outperformers. Over the years, the team continued to deliver complex energy programs for major retailers, property groups, and industrial operators. With the acquisition, the team returns to the independent clean energy space, backed now by the scale and capability of the Green Energy Group.

The acquisition broadens the Green Energy Group’s capability across the full certificate and energy efficiency landscape: from residential and small-scale commercial programs through to large-scale industrial decarbonisation projects where engineering rigor and defensible measurement are critical to outcomes.

Green Energy Group CEO Luke Konynenburg said the addition of Outperformers Next reflected where the industry was heading.

"We've made great gains in the residential space, with more great activities to come. However we cannot properly address the challenge of climate change without tackling the Commercial and Industrial sectors. What comes next is harder, and it requires a different level of capability. Outperformers Next has spent 16 years building something genuinely impressive for some of the most innovative clients in the country. What excites me most is what we can do with that foundation from here."

The Outperformers Next team transfers as part of the arrangement and will maintain its current client relationships. Shell Energy will continue to support electricity and gas customers through an ongoing affinity arrangement with Outperformers Next. No changes to day-to-day service delivery are anticipated.
